Foundation welcomes new employee
Anchorage - Meg Loomis, formerly Case Manager at Assets, Inc., has joined the Rasmuson Foundation as a Program Assistant. “We are happy that Meg has joined the Foundation. She brings strong professional and volunteer nonprofit experience to her role,” commented Foundation President Diane Kaplan.
At Assets, Inc., Meg oversaw the supportive living services for clients with developmental and / or psychiatric disabilities. Before coming to Alaska, Meg worked as the Development Director for Central Hospitality House, a homeless services organization based in San Francisco, where she raised over $600,000 in grants. She has also been employed as a Program Associate at the Oakland-based Eureka Foundation and worked as the Assistant to the President at the Institute for Democracy Studies in New York. Meg's volunteer activities include working in the kitchen at Beans Café and serving as a long time hospice volunteer in California.
Meg received her B.A. in English at Wesleyan University, where she also served as the Director of the Women’s Resource Center and organized several Take Back the Night Marches.
The Rasmuson Foundation was created under a declaration of trust in May of 1955 by Jenny Rasmuson to honor her late husband, "E.A." Rasmuson. Today, the Rasmuson Foundation continues this tradition through programs that support both non-profit organizations and individuals dedicated to improving the quality of life for people throughout the state. By assisting those who address basic needs, arts and culture, and projects that address special circumstances, the Rasmuson Foundation contributes to healthy, enriched and productive lives for Alaskans of all ages.
