Aleesha Towns-Bain is a Program Officer at Rasmuson Foundation.
Prior to joining the Foundation in 2008, she was the editor of the Crested Butte News, a weekly newspaper in Western Colorado. She was honored several times by the Colorado Press Association for her journalism. In addition to her work as a journalist, Aleesha worked in Washington D.C. for boutique public relations firms specializing in Native American issues. In 2011, Aleesha served as the interim executive director of the Alaska Children’s Trust.
She is a graduate of Bristol Bay Native Corporation's Training Without Walls Program, designed for emerging leaders. In 2012, she was selected as one of Alaska’s Top 40 Under 40. In 2013, she graduated from the Council on Foundations Career Pathways Project for emerging philanthropic leaders. Aleesha has a Bachelor of Arts degree with concentrations in journalism and Native American studies from The Evergreen State College and a Masters of Arts in Journalism from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
Her mother's side of the family has its roots in Pilot Point, in the Bristol Bay region. When Aleesha isn’t working, she’s hiking, skiing, and traveling with her family.
