For 50 years, the Rasmuson Foundation has been honored to help improve the quality of Alaskan's lives. Through its competitive grantmaking programs, the Rasmuson Foundation awards grants both to organizations serving Alaskans through a base of operations in Alaska, and to individuals for projects, fellowships and sabbaticals. To be considered for a grant award, grant seekers must meet strict qualifications, and complete and submit the required application according to the specific guidelines of each program.Programs that award to Alaska-based organizations:
Provides grants for Alaska museums to purchase current work by practicing Alaskan artists.
Provides grants to increase the role of cultural institutions in making arts experiences available in schools and neighborhoods; to inspire collaborations between educators, artists and cultural institutions; to increase student access to a variety of high-quality arts and cultural experiences; and to encourage student participation in the arts. There are 3 award programs for organizations: Arts Excursion, Cultural Collaborations, and Artists in Schools.
Provides matching grants to augment and enrich the programs offered by Alaska's arts and cultural organizations.
Provides travel grants to arts and community organizations that present the performing arts to underserved communities in the state.
Organizational Advancement Fund
Provides grants through three different programs to strengthen the effectiveness and impact of organizations that provide arts and cultural experiences to the citizens of Alaska by encouraging sustainable operations and strong leadership.
The Pre-Development Program, a by-invitation-only technical assistance program, assists nonprofit organizations in planning for successful capital (building) projects.
Provides grants for capital projects of up to $25,000.
Provides grants for projects of demonstrable strategic importance or innovative nature.
Programs that award to Alaska-based individuals:
Provides grants of up to $3,000 for certified, permanently assigned, full and part time K-12 artist-teachers to immerse themselves in their own creative work, interact with professional artists, and stay current with new practices.
Provide for grants to artists to support concentration and reflection on their work, to immerse themselves in a creative endeavor, and to experiment, explore, and develop their artistry more fully. There are 3 award programs for individuals: Projects, Artists Fellowships and Distinguished Artist.
Provides for awards of up to $30,000 to cover salary and expenses during the sabbatical, which is positioned to support the personal growth or renewal of the applicant.
