Kathy Hurlburt, MD

Kathy Hurlburt joined the Rasmuson Foundation board in January 2022. She is a former commercial fisherman-turned-medical doctor with her own practice in Anchorage.

Dr. Hurlburt is a lifelong Alaskan from an Athabascan family, born and raised in the Southwestern Alaska fishing hub of Naknek. She worked there as a commercial fisherman before leaving to pursue her medical degree.

She serves on the boards of Providence Alaska Medical Center board and Alaska Innovative Medicine and previously served on boards for Victory Ministries and Alaska Christian College. She is on the Providence Credentials Committee and is a former Alaska Regional Hospital chief of staff. Dr. Hurlburt has volunteered at youth camps around the state including as a physician for Victory Ministries. She graduated summa cum laude from the University of Alaska and earned her medical degree from the University of Washington.

She lives in Anchorage with her husband, Ward B. Hurlburt IV. She is passionate about the Bristol Bay region, where her parents, oldest son and his family still live. She loves spending time with her granddaughters and subsistence fishing in Bristol Bay.
