Marilyn Romano

Marilyn Romano is Alaska regional vice president for Alaska Airlines. She started with oversight over Alaska in 2011 and added the state of Hawaii to her area of responsibility in 2016. She shapes and executes a range of areas for Alaska Airlines including strategic external relations, corporate giving, sales and marketing, communications and governmental affairs. Before working for the airline, she spent nearly two decades with the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner, the second largest paper in Alaska, including 11 years as publisher. She was the newspaper’s first woman top executive.

Romano serves on the boards of the Anchorage Economic Development Corporation and Alaska State Chamber of Commerce. She also serves on the Governor’s Aviation Advisory Board, is a trustee for the University of Alaska Foundation, and is vice-president of the Alaska Airlines Foundation. She is also a member of the American Heart Association statewide board and has led Go Red for Women events in Anchorage and Fairbanks.

Her contributions have brought recognition including a Top 40 Under 40 award from the Alaska Journal of Commerce, Woman of Distinction from the Farthest North Girl Scouts, and the Cashen Award for meritorious service to University of Alaska Fairbanks. In 2014, she was inducted into the ATHENA Society, which honors female leaders who work to set an example for the next generation of leaders.

Romano and her husband, Brian, live in Anchorage.
