Bruce Schindler moved to Skagway, Alaska in 1993 after graduating from college. Schindler’s father was a cabinetmaker and his grandfather enjoyed carving in silver and wood. His family’s heritage in carving was perhaps what spurred his interest in carving fossil ivory upon his arrival in Alaska. Schindler’s goal is to carve simple yet bold designs that emphasize the beauty of the ivory. Schindler currently lives and works in Skagway.
