Lisa Gray graduated with a B.A. in American Studies from Oregon State University in 1984 and New York State University at Buffalo with a MFA in 2001. She turned professional in 1992. Two years later she had solo shows at the Seattle Art Museum and J.J. Brookings Gallery in San Francisco and went on to end 1994 with a review in the internationally acclaimed magazine ArtNews. Gray has completed 17 solo exhibition titles and has participated in more than 40 group exhibitions. She has been the subject of numerous art reviews and articles including a 1997 feature in View Camera magazine and a review of “Through the Looking Glass” in the Washington Post. Gray, a recipient of six grants and fellowships, received a Rasmuson Foundation Artist Project Grant in 2005. The grant funded a digital exhibition concerning the difficult and often misguided life choices made by female youth in pop culture. She currently lives in Anchorage.
