Mary Ida Henrikson was born and raised in Alaska. She is an oil painter and art historian, and has taught various art classes at the University of Alaska since 1971. Henrikson earned her BA from Central Washington University with a double major in Art and Philosophy. She graduated with an MFA from Claremont Graduate University. She currently lives and has her studio in Ketchikan. Henrikson’s works are held in international collections and have been published in Alaska magazine, Alaska Geographic, Malahat Journal and The Lamp magazine among others.
