Susan Christensen has been drawing, painting and making things since she was a child. She received her MFA in 1994 from the University of Washington. Christensen’s studio is in the historic Sons of Norway Hall in Petersburg, Alaska. Her work has been included in juried exhibits nationwide since 1995 and she has had numerous solo exhibits around Alaska and the Pacific Northwest. Christensen has worked in several media – oils, watercolor, acrylic collage and fiber. Printmaking and drawing are constant basics she relies on in developing ideas and images. Moving into the realm of fiber arts, dyeing, surface design and her sewing machine have become indispensable elements in her art-making process.
