Qatar Ambassador makes gift to Alaska shelters

His Excellency Mohammed Jaham Al Kuwari, Qatar’s Ambassador to the United States, today announced a $25,000 grant from the people of Qatar to the Domestic Violence Shelter Improvements Program administered by the Alaska Community Foundation.

Ambassador Al Kuwari is visiting Alaska at the invitation of the Alaska World Affairs Council, and guest of the Ted Stevens Foundation.

Anchorage –  Recover Alaska, a statewide collaboration of funding organizations, today announced a $154,000 award to Anchorage Daily News to support a year-long journalistic investigation of the staggering human and financial costs of alcohol abuse in Alaska.

Building Alaska through grantmaking best practices

Rasmuson Foundation is committed to improving the quality of life in Alaska. In this work, strengthening Alaska’s nonprofits is one of our key objectives.  Strategies include grantmaking; the provision of crucial technical assistance through The Foraker Group; raising Alaska’s profile through our work with associations such as Council on Foundations, Philanthropy Northwest, Grantmakers in the Arts and PRI Makers Network; building networks of grantmakers interested in investing in Alaska through the annual Educational Tour; and building individual and community philanthropy across the state in conjunction with entities like The Alaska Community Foundation.
