Lower 48 Artists Selected for 2016 Residencies in Alaska

Anchorage, AK – Rasmuson Foundation has announced the selection of four artists from the Lower 48 who will each spend eight weeks in residence this fall, at arts organizations in Alaska. These residencies take place as part of the Foundation’s Artist Residency Program.

Exhibition celebrates decade of collecting contemporary art for Alaska museums

Anchorage, AK – In 2003, Alaska’s Rasmuson Foundation launched its Art Acquisition Fund to provide grants to museums that collect current work by Alaska artists. In its first ten years, the fund distributed nearly $2 million and helped 33 museums purchase more than 1,000 works by 436 artists.


Artist residency program launches

Anchorage –  Rasmuson Foundation has launched an Artist Residency Program to support eight-week residencies for Alaska artists at Lower 48 organizations, and welcome to Alaska organizations accomplished artists from Outside. The four artists selected for residencies in Alaska, which will begin September 15, are:

Melissa Daubert will be in residency at Bunnell Street Arts Center in Homer.

The culmination of a dream

When Ed Rasmuson took to the stage on Saturday, May 22 to celebrate the completion of the latest expansion of the Anchorage Museum at Rasmuson Center, it was a culminating moment in the decades-long vision of the Rasmuson family to build a great museum for all Alaskans.
