New grants for therapeutic court, historic barn and more

A therapeutic court for Mat-Su families in crisis, a new roof for a Fairbanks homeless shelter and a portable health clinic for the eroding Northwest Alaska village of Kivalina were among 16 projects recently approved by the Rasmuson Foundation Board of Directors.

Our summer intern: Looking at solutions, not problems

Rasmuson Foundation is delighted to announce our 2018 summer intern, Brandon McIntire, who already is giving back to his community. He comes to us through the First Alaskans Institute after completing his first year at Harvard University, where he is studying economics and psychology. He is the only Alaska Native student there and one of few Native Americans.

Meet Rasmuson Foundation’s new program officer

The newest addition to Rasmuson Foundation’s team brings experience in philanthropy, government and nonprofit work, much of it focused on homelessness and child welfare. The Foundation is pleased to announce that Todd Shenk will begin work Monday, June 18, as a senior program officer, building on a career that began in Alaska.

Rasmuson Foundation was looking for a Program Officer eight years ago. We hoped for someone with some expertise in either arts or health, two of our major interest areas.

Central casting sent us Jayson Smart. He had cred in arts AND  health.

We don’t usually talk much about charitable giving during the summer. It’s partly timing. We’re in the quiet period between Permanent Fund Dividend (PFD) applications. We’re months from the year-end flurry of fundraising activity. And Alaskans are busy enjoying all that our wonderful summers have to offer.
